Timothy K. Wong, Ph.D.
Education
I completed my undergraduate studies at UCLA in psychology and received a M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. I am licensed as a clinical psychologist (PSY 28253) by the California Board of Psychology, see clients in my private practice, and am the Founder and Director of Santa Monica Therapy.
Clinical Experience
My experience covers diverse ages and populations. I served as a counselor at an inpatient/outpatient adolescent substance abuse treatment center, Adolescent Growth. I provided psychotherapy to college students as a clinical intern at USC Student Counseling Services, Cal State University, Fullerton Counseling and Psychological Services, and Life Pacific College. I trained at a community mental health facility, Fuller Psychological and Family Services and received specialized training at UCLA Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Program. My experience also includes leading group psychotherapy at Step Up On Second, a psychosocial rehabilitation center for individuals with severe mental illness. I provided long-term, insight-oriented psychotherapy during postdoctoral training at the Saturday Center for Psychotherapy. I also provide psychological testing for candidates pursuing ordination. Finally, I find great joy in learning from professional colleagues in my consultation group and talented colleagues at Santa Monica Therapy.
Research
My doctoral dissertation resulted in a published research article on the neurological implications of sexual abuse. This study was completed in collaboration with Amen Clinics. I have also published on the topic of Existential Therapy.
